P&C Underwriter – Equine Farm and Ranch

Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled and motivated Property & Casualty Underwriter to join our Equine Farm and Ranch team. This role involves evaluating and underwriting new and renewal business while ensuring pro?table growth and adherence to company guidelines. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of P&C underwriting experience and a passion for supporting the unique needs of the equine industry. Key Responsibilities: • Evaluate and underwrite new and renewal business for Equine Farm and Ranch insurance policies, ensuring compliance with company standards and risk appetite. • Analyze risk exposures by reviewing applications, loss runs, ?nancials, and other relevant documentation. • Develop and recommend appropriate coverage terms, conditions, and pricing to achieve pro?tability goals. • Collaborate with agents, brokers, and other stakeholders to gather additional information and provide expert guidance. • Build and maintain strong relationships with agency partners to drive growth and retention. • Monitor and respond to market trends, competitor activities, and emerging risks in the Equine Farm and Ranch sector. • Ensure all underwriting decisions align with regulatory and company requirements. • Contribute to training and mentoring initiatives within the team to share expertise and promote continuous improvement. Qualifications: • Minimum of 3 years of Property & Casualty underwriting experience required, preferably with exposure to equine farm and ranch insurance. • Bachelor’s degree in business, ?nance, agriculture, or a related ?eld (or equivalent experience). • Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AFIS are a plus. • Strong knowledge of P&C insurance principles, including property, liability, and specialty coverages. • Proven ability to assess risks and make sound underwriting decisions. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills. • Pro?ciency with underwriting tools, technology, and Microsoft Office applications.
