About the position The Patient Financial Navigator Lead is responsible for ensuring that each patient has a complete and accurate financial record within the OSF system. This role involves educating and supporting patients on their financial options, serving as a resource for complex issues, and acting as an escalation point for various functional areas. The position requires a strong understanding of the revenue cycle to maximize reimbursement for the health system and involves mentoring and supporting other Patient Financial Navigators to ensure quality and efficiency in their functions. Responsibilities • Ensure each patient has a complete and accurate OSF financial record. , • Educate and support patients on pre and post financial options. , • Function as a team resource on complex issues and problem resolution. , • Serve as a dedicated escalation point for multiple functional areas. , • Determine appropriate outside resources for escalation support. , • Provide support to Patient Financial Navigators to ensure quality and efficiency of functions performed. , • Mentor and train Patient Financial Navigators. , • Assist with screening potential candidates and analyzing reports. , • Audit accounts and resolve issues as needed. , • Complete department schedules and payroll/timekeeping. , • Guide and support change and process improvement opportunities in the department. , • Work with department leadership to set standards and execute improvement plans. Requirements • Associate's Degree or equivalent experience of 2 years in a healthcare or public health setting. , • Two years' experience in healthcare collection, financial counseling, insurance benefit verification, or related fields. , • One year experience in customer service/relations. , • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. , • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software. , • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail. Nice-to-haves • Bachelor Degree in Business Administration or Healthcare related field. , • Experience in Patient Registration or Patient Accounts. , • Advanced knowledge of CPT4, ICD9/10, HCPCS, and modifiers. , • Knowledge of medical terminology. , • HFMA CRCR certification.
