Job Title: Head of Data Science - Fraud & Risk Location: Remote Flexible, USA Company Overview: MoneyGram is a customer-centric, digital-first, cross-border money movement network. Role Overview: The Head of Data Science for Fraud and Risk is responsible for leading the development of sophisticated data models and analytics to identify and mitigate fraud risks effectively. This role involves leveraging predictive modeling, machine learning, and big data technologies to forecast fraud trends and optimize fraud prevention mechanisms. What You Will Do: • Strategic Leadership and Collaboration: Forge strong collaborations with IT, Product, Compliance, and Operations teams to ensure seamless integration and effectiveness of fraud detection models. • Advanced Analytics and Model Development: Develop and refine fraud prediction models using advanced statistical and machine learning techniques. • Operational and Risk Analytics Oversight: Monitor and analyze the performance of deployed models, continuously seeking improvements and efficiencies. • Team Leadership and Development: Attract, hire, and retain top talent in the field of data science. • Stakeholder Engagement and Reporting: Regularly interact with senior management and cross-functional teams to report on fraud trends and model performance. Who You Are: • Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field. Master’s degree strongly preferred. • At least 10 years in analytics, with a minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing a data science team. • Proficient in using statistical computer languages (Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data. • Strong analytical skills with attention to detail and accuracy. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Demonstrated ability to apply data science to solve real-world problems strategically. This role is crucial for driving forward our capabilities in fraud detection and risk management through innovative data science strategies.
