Responsibilities: The Flight Attendant plays a crucial role in ensuring passenger safety and comfort throughout the flight. Primary responsibilities include: Safety First: Maintaining the highest safety standards in accordance with all United Airlines and regulatory protocols. This includes effective communication and decisive action in emergency situations. Exceptional Customer Service: Providing a superior passenger experience through proactive, positive interactions, addressing passenger needs with empathy and grace, and resolving issues efficiently and professionally. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills and a genuine passion for service excellence. Operational Efficiency: Demonstrating dependability and timeliness, adhering to schedules, efficiently fulfilling reserve assignments, and handling all aspects of in-flight service, including food and beverage service. Teamwork: Collaborating effectively with fellow crew members to ensure a cohesive and productive flight operation. Compensation and Benefits: United Airlines offers a comprehensive and competitive compensation package including: Starting hourly pay of $28.88, increasing to a top base scale of $67.11, with further increases based on seniority. Additional compensation for proficiency in multiple languages, lead positions, and international flights. Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision insurance, 401(k) plan, paid time off, and an Employee Assistance Plan. Exceptional travel privileges for the Flight Attendant, their family, and friends. Training and Development: Successful candidates will participate in a rigorous 6.5-week training program in Houston, TX. This intensive program covers United’s safety and service standards. A $140 per week stipend, accommodations, and breakfast and lunch are provided during training. Upon successful completion of training, a $1,000 bonus will be awarded. Following training, the Flight Attendant will be assigned to one of United's seven hubs or other base locations. (Relocation assistance is not provided). Qualifications and Requirements: Applicants must meet the following criteria: Minimum age of 21 at the time of application. High school diploma or GED equivalent; two or more years of college preferred. Minimum one year of customer service experience in a relevant industry (e.g., retail, hospitality, food service, teaching, aviation, social services). Excellent verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and audibly in emergency situations. Fluency in English (written and spoken). Fluency in Greek (written and spoken). Ability to hear all ranges of sound. Professional appearance and adherence to United's uniform, hair, tattoo, and piercing guidelines (Note: Tattoos are not permitted on the head, hands, or neck; visible tattoos elsewhere must be no larger than a credit card and not contain offensive imagery). Proficiency in operating electronic devices. Valid passport with at least 18 months of validity remaining at the time of application, and eligibility for unrestricted international travel. Ability to meet physical requirements including standing, walking, lifting (up to 250 lbs.), bending, and reaching. Must pass a functional reach assessment (76-inch vertical and 43.5-inch horizontal reach). Ability to sit in an assigned jump seat with seatbelt and shoulder harness fastened. Ability to serve and sell food and beverages (including alcohol) professionally. Legal authorization to work in the United States. Ability and willingness to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended hours. Onboarding and Pre-Employment Requirements: Successful completion of a water evacuation drill. Successful completion of pre-employment DOT drug screening, comprehensive background checks, fingerprinting, and vision/hearing tests. Successful completion of DOT/FAA pre-employment and randomized drug screenings (medical and recreational marijuana prohibited). Successful completion of a 10-year background check (restrictions may apply based on travel destinations).
