About the position The Furniture Sales Specialist is responsible for delivering exceptional customer service while maintaining a comprehensive understanding of the products, services, and payment options available in the furniture department. This role involves utilizing effective sales techniques to promote both indoor and outdoor furniture sales, fostering strong customer relationships, and ensuring customer satisfaction. The specialist will also be accountable for the operational aspects of the furniture department, including merchandising and cleanliness. In addition to sales responsibilities, the position may require performing general store duties such as cashiering, customer service, and light cleaning or maintenance tasks as assigned. A key aspect of this role is spending quality time with customers, actively listening to their needs, and providing them with detailed information about products, services, and payment options. The specialist will maintain up-to-date knowledge of product details and competing products to assist customers in making informed decisions. Cross-selling techniques will be employed to enhance sales opportunities, and the specialist will assist with basic clienteling activities to build customer loyalty. The Furniture Sales Specialist will also be involved in maintaining accurate records related to furniture inventory, price holds, special orders, and customer pick-ups. Participation in the warehousing and organization of furniture stock is essential, as well as assisting in furniture freight processing when necessary. The role includes identifying and communicating furniture display needs, assembling display items, and ensuring that all processes related to furniture transactions are completed accurately. Maintaining the merchandising and presentation standards of the department is crucial, along with performing merchandise recovery functions as needed. The specialist will also be responsible for maintaining the store's interior and exterior appearance to company standards, which includes light maintenance duties and cleaning. Other tasks may be assigned by Furniture and Store Leadership, including general store duties, shrink control, and safety-related tasks. Responsibilities ? Provide superior customer service and maintain in-depth knowledge of products, services, and payment options. , ? Utilize appropriate sales techniques to drive indoor and outdoor furniture sales and build customer relationships. , ? Maintain up-to-date knowledge of product details, competing product comparisons, services, and payment options. , ? Utilize cross-selling techniques as appropriate. , ? Assist with basic clienteling activities. , ? Maintain accurate records related to furniture inventory, price holds, special orders, and customer pick-ups. , ? Participate in the warehousing and organization of furniture stock and merchandise carry-outs. , ? Identify and communicate furniture display needs and assemble display items as needed. , ? Ensure all processes related to furniture transactions are completed properly and operate point-of-sale systems efficiently. , ? Maintain merchandising and presentation standards of the department and perform merchandise recovery functions as needed. , ? Maintain the appearance of the store's interior and exterior to company standards, including light maintenance duties and cleaning. , ? Perform other tasks as assigned by Furniture and Store Leadership. Requirements ? Must be at least 18 years of age. , ? Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills required. , ? Prior retail sales experience and knowledge of sales techniques preferred. , ? Ability to work a flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays required. , ? Previous experience operating a point-of-sale system preferred. , ? Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a minimum of 50 pounds required. , ? Ability to unload freight, move product on and off store shelves, and perform merchandise carry-outs. , ? Basic English literacy and math skills required. Nice-to-haves ? Prior retail sales experience and knowledge of sales techniques preferred. , ? Previous experience operating a point-of-sale system preferred.
