Elementary Teaching Assistant
About the position
The Elementary Teaching Assistant at Great Hearts Academies supports lead teachers in implementing the Core Knowledge curriculum for students in kindergarten through fifth grade. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about education and wish to gain experience in a classical liberal arts environment. The position offers a pathway to teaching roles through the Apprentice Teacher Program, which provides mentorship and training.
Responsibilities
- Support the lead teacher in the classroom ,
- Assist in the implementation of the Core Knowledge curriculum ,
- Help manage classroom activities and student behavior ,
- Provide individualized support to students as needed ,
- Participate in professional development opportunities
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree ,
- Experience with classroom management ,
- Experience working with children ,
- 1 year of experience as a teaching assistant ,
- Time management skills ,
- CPT coding knowledge (preferred)
Nice-to-haves
- Teaching certification (not required) ,
- Experience in a classical education setting
