Patient Sitter (Part Time, Nights)
About the position
The Patient Sitter position at St. Francis Medical Center involves maintaining constant visual observation of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. This role is crucial in ensuring patient safety and providing a clean environment while effectively communicating patient observations to nursing staff. The position may also include functioning as a virtual safety sitter, providing remote observation and support to patients.
Responsibilities
- Maintain constant visual observation of assigned patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. ,
- Assist in providing a safe and clean environment for patients. ,
- Communicate observations of the patient's activity and behavior to the assigned nurse regularly. ,
- Function as a virtual safety sitter, providing continuous remote observation of assigned patients. ,
- Verbally redirect patients from engaging in at-risk behaviors and notify nursing staff if assistance is required. ,
- Communicate professionally and respect patient confidentiality and hospital policies. ,
- Offer support to peers and staff.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent. ,
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office and basic computer skills. ,
- Ability to communicate in English orally and in writing. ,
- BLS (AHA) certification required at time of hire and must remain current. ,
- Previous clinical experience preferred.
