Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Pharmacy Support Specialist to join our dynamic team in a remote capacity. In this pivotal role, you will provide vital support to our pharmacists, playing an essential part in ensuring the safe and efficient distribution of medications. Key Responsibilities • Exhibit a strong sense of urgency while adeptly managing multiple tasks simultaneously. • Conduct thorough reviews of all orders to guarantee completeness and accuracy of information. • Accurately read and interpret prescriptions. • Verify patient information and secure necessary physician authorizations. • Check orders for insurance approval to ensure a seamless process. • Calculate correct dosage volumes, including conversions between metric and apothecary measurements when necessary. • Assist pharmacists in the safe distribution of medications and overall pharmaceutical care. • Enter and process new prescriptions into the pharmacy computer system under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, maintaining adherence to pharmacy regulations. • Manage prescription refills, encompassing confirmation processes and reviewing pending requests with pharmacists. • Maintain a clean and organized workstation to foster a productive work environment. • Ensure the timely processing of all orders. • Provide necessary phone support as required. • Aid in maintaining the accuracy of software templates. Required Skills • Strong data entry and typing skills (minimum 35 words per minute). • Ability to efficiently juggle multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting. • Excellent communication skills for effective phone support. Qualifications • A verifiable High School Diploma or GED is mandatory. • Attendance is essential during the initial 90 days of employment. • Prior experience in pharmacy or healthcare customer service is preferred. • Must be comfortable commuting to Irving, TX.
