What We're Looking For

We’re looking for a Director of Engineering, to be based in Poland, Spain or Cyprus.

Reporting to the CTO, You will be responsible for critical shared products that span from user identification, authentication and profile, customer success excellence and growing other capabilities that will enable fast experimentation and innovation across all Welltech’s user segments eg, Personalisation, Video experience, Wearables..

You will have responsibility to co-lead the product development team together with the Director of Product, form a technology strategy and architecture vision, as well as the day-to-day delivery of your teams, supporting and enhancing the Welltech engineering culture, growing the team and its capabilities and working with your peers to ensure business success.

You will be responsible for both large step-change product innovation and continued, high-velocity incremental feature development, helping to deliver value to our users that they happily pay for in a seamless fashion.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain world-class solutions serving millions of users.

• Be part of a broader Product, Data, and Tech community of 200+ people while leading and inspiring a team of +40 engineers

• Lead by example. We expect you to be hands-on, in the sense of being able to participate in detailed technical discussions and evaluate technical decisions, as well as provide guidance to members of your team.

• Drive the technology strategy making sure modern techniques and technologies are applied properly

• Be actively involved in leading product innovation driven by technology trends

• Grow a strong product mindset in the teams using a Platform as a Product approach

• Take responsibility for the roadmap and deliverables together with product to drive customer value, conversion, adoption, willingness to pay and revenues

• Lead architectural and system design initiatives in a microservice environment

• Consider buy vs. build decisions and manage strategic partnerships with 3rd party providers

• Grow your team both personal and professional and create an environment that enables to attract world class talent

• Define challenging objectives and key results together with the team and monitor and report progress

Knowledge/functional skills/Experience

• Extensive experience in a hyper growth environment

• Experience in building and leading engineering teams of +50 engineers

• Vast experience in building scalable products, ideally platform transversal capabilities enabling multiple business lines and products.

• Deep understanding in building high-traffic, large-scale internet applications

• Strong technical background and good understanding of current technology trends

• Experience with data products, ML and AI based products

• Experience with microservice architectures in a cloud-based environment (AWS, using Serverless/Kubernetes)

• Experience in building an engineering culture in an agile, lean & devops environment

• Deep understanding of product management and how to partner with product, design and user research

• Experience with continuous delivery focusing on fast release cycles while maintaining quality and measuring technical health

• Strong business acumen

• Experience in working in an international environment and leading teams across multiple locations

• Proven track record of hiring, inspiring, and retaining top performing engineers
