  • Salary: $150,000 - 200,000 + Equity
  • Requirements: Python with FastAPI framework, MongoDB for data storage, Google Cloud Platform, Docker, RESTful API, CI/CD, AI/ML services

Position Overview We are seeking a skilled Sr. Backend Engineer with expertise in Python to join our remote team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing robust backend systems, ensuring high performance and responsiveness to requests from the front-end. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to build scalable microservices and maintain our database systems, contributing to our agile development process. We are a new social media app backed by Silicon Valleys biggest VCs. Our app has been downloaded over 1 million times!

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Python.
  • Implement RESTful APIs and microservices architecture.
  • Manage database systems, including SQL and NoSQL databases like MongoDB.
  • Collaborate with front-end developers to integrate user-facing elements with server-side logic.
  • Participate in agile development processes, including sprint planning and code reviews.
  • Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration of applications.
  • Implement version control practices using GIT.
  • Write and maintain unit tests to ensure code quality.
  • Establish CI/CD pipelines to automate testing and deployment processes.
  • Design software architecture that is scalable and efficient for cloud deployment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in backend development with Python.
  • Strong experience with RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Proficiency in database management, both SQL and NoSQL (MongoDB preferred).
  • Familiarity with Agile methodologies and software development life cycle.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for container management.
  • Solid understanding of version control systems (GIT).
  • Proficient in unit testing and CI/CD practices.
  • Experience with cloud services, particularly Google Cloud and cloud storage solutions.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a remote environment.
