Key Responsibilities:

• Teach knowledge and skills in the subject matter to middle school students, utilizing the course of study prescribed by the District-approved curriculum
• Develop instructional plans and organize class time to provide a balanced program of instruction, demonstration, and working time
• Provide individual and small group instruction to adapt the curriculum to the needs of pupils with varying intellectual abilities
• Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior required to provide an orderly and productive classroom
• Evaluate each student's performance and growth in knowledge and understanding, preparing progress reports and communicating with parents and school counselors
• Maintain professional competence through in-service education activities, professional growth activities, and university courses

Requirements:

• Valid State of Michigan Teaching Certificate with K-8 or 6-12 certification and any two of the following endorsements: EX, DX/DI, BA/BX, or RX
• Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with others, strong work ethic, and exemplary attendance record
• Effective organizational and communication skills, with the ability to work well as a member of a team
• Skilled in collecting and analyzing relevant student achievement data to drive instructional decisions

Preferred Qualifications:

• Middle school teaching experience
• Certification in another content area
• Proficient with Google Drive and related cloud-based applications
• Familiarity with the Common Core Standards for Math and Science
• Interest in conducting after-school programs
