The UNDP is a global leader in international development, working in over 170 countries and territories. Research assistants and analysts are vital to this mission, helping to inform policy, evaluate programs, and create evidence-based strategies. Many of these roles are offered on a consultant basis, which allows for home-based work and a flexible schedule. These positions are not just about data—they are about turning information into action to address complex challenges like climate change, poverty, and gender inequality. Tasks The tasks for a research assistant or analyst can vary widely depending on the project. However, they may include:

  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gathering and compiling data from various sources to support research projects.
  • Literature Reviews: Conducting extensive reviews of academic and policy literature.
  • Report Writing: Drafting and editing research reports, policy briefs, and presentations.
  • Project Support: Assisting with the administrative and logistical aspects of a research project.
