[Remote] System Analyst - Consultant

Note: The job is a remote job and is open to candidates in USA. The Higher Education Assistance Group, Inc. (HEAG) is actively seeking talented System Analysts to join our consulting roster. The role involves working with Financial Aid Management systems and may include both internal training projects and client work, primarily in a remote setting.

Responsibilities

  • Consultants may be assigned to internal training projects or external client work
  • Assignments may be long or short term, full or part time
  • Most assignments will be remote, but priority will be given to candidates who can travel

Skills

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as both a Director of Financial Aid and a Systems Administrator for one of the following Financial Aid Management systems: Ellucian Banner or Colleague, PowerFAIDS, PeopleSoft, Workday, Jenzabar or JFA
  • In-depth understanding of at least one of the Financial Aid Management Systems to include: FA System programming, data analysis, testing, workflow, reporting, data integration, and all system level processes related to file imports and exports, student communications, awarding, verification, SAP, disbursement, withdrawal, R2T4 and reconciliation processes
  • Knowledge of common integration, imaging, CRM, and/or reporting tools such as Informer, Argos, SQL, Web Focus, Blackbaud, Slate, Salesforce, Campus Logic, or similar tools
  • Knowledge of federal and state regulations
  • Knowledge of COD system workflow, files, reports and processes
  • Knowledge of ED Express system workflow, files, reports and processes
  • Knowledge of NSLDS system workflow, files, reports and processes
  • Knowledge of ED Connect
  • Knowledge of batch transactions
  • Data analysis capabilities including the ability to analyze testing outcomes to determine additional programming needs, identify chronological order of transactions and functions, identify compliance risks and develop action plans for resolution, and effectively communicate needs and changes to client
  • Problem solving skills including understanding how to build, execute and analyze data and transactions, ability to identify and catalog any discrepancies that result from data research, and communicate needs and timeline for resolution of errors
  • Strong organizational skills including tracking/logging all programming changes, testing outcomes and resolutions, identifying and cataloging any potential audit/compliance risks, and ability to effectively multi-task and meet established deadlines
  • Strong communication skills including demonstrated ability to communicate well with both technical and non-technical staff, ask questions, document and communicate answers, document and share work performed and work still required, and effectively communicate with project management team regularly, or as defined
  • Ability to teach people at all different skill levels
  • Comfortable with public speaking and presenting
  • A lifelong learner who seeks to constantly improve their skillset and knowledge base
