Position Overview

arenaflex is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Medical Data Entry Specialist & Billing Clerk to join our client’s remote operations team. This is a remote position serving a Texas-based healthcare organization, with occasional in-person meetings in McKinney, TX. Candidates must reside in the Dallas–Fort Worth metroplex to accommodate quarterly or annual on-site requirements.

This is a 5-month contract-to-hire opportunity, offering an excellent pathway to long-term employment with a reputable healthcare organization. The ideal start date is September 23rd, with alternative start dates of September 30th or October 7th available. The pay rate is $19.00 per hour, and all necessary equipment will be provided.

This role is perfect for someone with prior medical billing experience who thrives in a structured, team-oriented, and remote work environment. You will play a critical role in claims processing, patient data verification, and ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities

As a Medical Data Entry Specialist & Billing Clerk at arenaflex, your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Claims Processing & Entry-Level Billing: Accurately enter and process medical claims into the billing system, ensuring all data is captured correctly the first time.
  • Data Entry Excellence: Perform high-volume, accurate data entry of patient demographic information, insurance details, and billing codes into the computer system with minimal errors.
  • Patient Information Verification: Carefully verify patient information within the system, confirming accuracy of names, insurance coverage, dates of service, and other critical data points.
  • Payer Portal Monitoring: Regularly check various payer portals to monitor the status of submitted claims, identify issues, and take corrective action when needed.
  • Claims Resubmission: Review denied or rejected claims, make necessary corrections, and resubmit claims in a timely manner to ensure proper reimbursement.
  • HIPAA Compliance & Medical Records Management: Follow strict HIPAA guidelines when providing medical records to primary care providers, insurance carriers, referred providers, and patients upon proper request.
  • Medicaid Claims Management: Work extensively with Medicaid claims, applying knowledge of state-specific guidelines and payer requirements to ensure accurate and timely submission.
  • Team Collaboration: Actively participate in team-oriented tasks, assist coworkers when needed, contribute to reaching team goals, meet deadlines consistently, and serve as a reliable team player.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of claims activity, denials, and resubmissions for reporting and audit purposes.

Essential Qualifications

To be successful in this role, candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Educational Background: High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Medical Experience: At least 1 year of experience in a medical billing, healthcare administration, or related role.
  • Software Proficiency: Demonstrated proficiency in medical billing software and electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Insurance Knowledge: Solid understanding of insurance claim submission processes and familiarity with various payer guidelines.
  • Medicaid Expertise: Hands-on experience working with Medicaid claims is required, as the team processes a high volume of these submissions.
  • Professional References: Strong references from past employers and a proven track record of tenure and reliability.
  • Attention to Detail: Exceptional accuracy in data entry with the ability to spot discrepancies and errors quickly.
